At this not to be missed breakfast event brought to you by the Mental Health Coalition of South Australia and Business SA, Dame Carol will describe the range of approaches taken in the United Kingdom from 2005 when a National Health, Work and Well-being strategy was published.

These have focused on identifying factors and changes necessary – particularly in the workplace – to safeguard and improve the health of working people. The crucial nature of organisational culture and the quality of management will also be discussed.

TOOLS FOR SUPPORTING RECOVERY with Mary O'Hagan
Two day workshop - Monday, 4th June and Tuesday, 5th June 2012.

Description
People often criticise the recovery approach for being too theoretical and lacking practical application. While it is true that the recovery approach is driven by a set of attitudes and beliefs there are plenty of tools practitioners can offer people using services. These tools need to be informed by our knowledge of people’s experience of distress and recovery. At the most fundamental level practitioners can invite people to re-frame their life stories which may have been interrupted by trauma, stigma, loss and service failures – using the template of the hero’s journey.
