TOOLS FOR SUPPORTING RECOVERY with Mary O'Hagan Two day workshop - Monday, 4th June and Tuesday, 5th June 2012.
Description People often criticise the recovery approach for being too theoretical and lacking practical application. While it is true that the recovery approach is driven by a set of attitudes and beliefs there are plenty of tools practitioners can offer people using services. These tools need to be informed by our knowledge of people’s experience of distress and recovery. At the most fundamental level practitioners can invite people to re-frame their life stories which may have been interrupted by trauma, stigma, loss and service failures – using the template of the hero’s journey.
